Can You Be In Between Body Shapes?

Yes, you can be in between body shapes! And it is very common.

There are 5 main body shapes – apple, rectangle, hourglass, pear and inverted triangle.

Most women will fit into one of these categories, but it is not always the case.

This means your calculated body shape belongs to one main category, but your upper body or your lower body leans towards a secondary body shape.

How does this affect you?

When you are getting dressed or shopping, you will need to consider styling indications for both body shapes.

In Between Body Shapes –  Examples:

I will give you a concrete example.

The rectangle body shape is characterized by shoulders, hips, waist and bust of the same width.

If one of these points in your body does not fit this description, you lean towards a secondary body shape.

If your rectangle body has wide hips, instead of the expected flat hips, although you have a calculated rectangle body shape, you also have a pear as a secondary body shape.

One point on the body, the hips, does not fit the description.

As you can see, the woman in the photo below has a rectangle body shape, because her bust, hips and waist have the same width.

Her calculated body shape would reveal this information.

But because her shoulders are the widest point in her body she leans toward an inverted triangle.

She has a rectangle body shape but leans towards an inverted triangle body shape.

In case it is still confusing to you, I will explain it differently.

If your body does not fit the description expected for your body shape.

But your shoulders, waist, bust or hips include the characteristics of another body shape, then you have a secondary body shape.

Hips that are slightly broader than your shoulders are the characteristic of a pear shape.

Shoulders broader than your hips are the characteristic of an inverted triangle.

Having your bust and hips approximately the same width is the characteristic of a rectangle.

If your body includes one of these characteristics, when the description for your calculated body shape does not, then you have a secondary body shape.
